The Role
As a key member of our team the Assistant Horticulturist is responsible for maintaining world class ornamental and natural displays on the golf course and resort property. This includes mulching, weeding, spot spraying, watering, pruning, planting, and fertilizing, as well as creating and following a pest management program. They will also maintain, monitor, and protect streamside enhancement areas throughout the golf course. The Assistant Horticulturist will report to the Horticulturist and possess the leadership skills necessary in supervising multiple Landscape Gardeners.
Your contributions to the team include:
  • Train seasonal employees on mulching, weeding, spot spraying, watering, pruning, planting, and fertilizing.
  • Maintain the indoor live wall
  • Maintain garden beds to prestige conditions always keeping a weed-free appearance.
  • Assist with the maintenance and monitoring or our protected streamside enhancement areas throughout the golf course.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the Horticulturist on all plant health issues, and team member performances.
  • Ability to perform other duties as directed or required, including golf maintenance activities.
  • Occasionally assist in turf maintenance practices as needed.
  • Additional tasks and duties as assigned.
A few things we are looking for in a new team member:
  • 1 plus years within similar industry.
  • Knowledge of soil fertility, water use management, plant health, pest control methods, and plant materials.
  • Familiarity in plant selection and preferred growing environments.
  • Ability to create and follow a Pest Management Program.
  • Cheerful outlook and a very strong work ethic.
  • Proficient staff and time management skills.
  • Passion towards creating a cohesive team atmosphere.
  • Documented examples of previous work with a portfolio of past work.
Working towards or willingness to receive Red Seal certification or a degree in Horticulture.
